June/July 2010

Welcome back! We hope you have had a lovely week off and are ready for the fun filled ½ term to take you up to the summer holidays, for some the last ½ term at Pre-School before transition into Primary School.

Firstly we would like to say a huge Thank You to everyone who joined us and supported the Pre-Schools Fundraiser Bingo Night.  It was a great success and through your generosity we raised an amazing £1216.84.  This money along with the other monies raised will go towards the new flooring in the outside play area, enabling the children to play outdoors in all weathers. Thank You

Lots of things going on in this last term before the summer holidays:-

  • Pre-School Sports Day (weather permitting) – Being held at Curdworth Playing Fields.  If the weather is good bring along a packed lunch for the children to make it even more fun!!!  Drop the children off as usual at 9.30am and join us at the playing fields at 11am.  (No Lunch Club)
  • Pre-School Trip to Thomas Land (Drayton Manor Park).  To meet in the car park at Drayton Manor at the meeting point at 10am prompt (Please ensure you have put your names down on the list and have paid)
  • Graduation Day – For Grace, Joel, Joe, Charlie, Eva, Francesca, Halley, Phoebe, Imogen, Amy and Max who will be leaving Pre-School at the end of term.  What can I say, well, hand on heart they are all such wonderful, caring and so very special to myself, Wendy and Margaret. All have touched our hearts in so many ways and we shall miss them all very much.  Luckily all of the children we will continue to see on a regular basis at Curdworth Primary School!  We wish all of the children all the very best for the next stage of their lives and hope they all have a smooth transition into school. Graduation Day is only open for the family/friends of the children due to be leaving Pre-School at the end of term.  Prompt start at 11am. (Please Note: No Lunch Club).

  • End Of Term Party – Will be held on 23rd July.  Please pick up your children at 12.30 instead of 12.00.  Not lunch boxes required as we will be having party food at 12.00 – There will be no charge for lunch club on this day.

I have completed the above stated children’s Transfer Profile Sheet, there have been changes to these since last year.  They are now a single sheet and will involve their development folders.

These profile sheets are sent out to Pre-Schools to complete, and are then forwarded onto the School your child will be starting at in September.

Transfer Profile Sheets are completed and taken to the meeting we will have with the Reception Teachers at School.  We will pass on valuable information to Mrs Freeman and Mrs Beardsley about the children.  This will give the teachers a little background information on what your child has achieved and their stage of development, we will also provide any other information we feel will be of benefit to help your child’s smooth transition from Pre-School to Reception.

All information stated on their sheet is purely based on what your child can do, and that we have observed the children doing at Pre-School.  There may very well be areas that we have not highlighted but this is purely because either we have not observed it or has not been observed on a regular basis.

We do need to go through your child’s Transfer Profile Sheet with you all so please speak to Jenny to book a time to do this if I have not already seen you. (It should only take around 10 minutes).

Could we please ask that you do not purchase your child’s book bag for their new school.  The reason we ask this is because Pre-School purchases the book bags as a farewell gift.

On a happier note we would like to say a BIG HELLO to Travis, Blossom and Harry who have recently started with us at Pre-School and have settled in well.  In September we have lots more new children which will keep us nice and busy.

The Topic for this term is Mini Beasts.  We will be talking and looking at the very many different mini beasts we have living around.  We will be looking at where they live, what they look like, what they eat and lots more.  This topic is always a great hit with the children as they have the chance to explore and get dirty!!!

Hopefully the weather is going to be nice this term, so could you please supply us with sun cream & a sun hat for your child.  Please feel free to either leave it at pre-school or bring them in daily.  Thank you

We would also like to say Thank You to our committee members Caroline, Nicola, Sue and Claire for all of your hard work over the last year, it really is appreciated!!  If anybody is interested in joining the Pre-School Committee then please speak to Jenny.

You may or may not be aware that from September the Pre-Schools opening hours will change.  The new opening hours will be from 9.30am to 12.30pm with lunch club running from 12.30pm to 1pm.  This is due to the implementation of the new 15 hours per week free flexible entitlement from the Government that was originally 12.5 hours per week.  Any queries or questions please don’t hesitate to speak to us.

Sorry it has been such a long newsletter; hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything, apologies if I have.
